About Preceptors

Preceptors
This is a person within or part of the team of the Spiritual Care Practice Site that would supervise the student's spiritual care practices
The Preceptor is key for your CPE journey, as they will guide students, and provide feedback on their performance. Therefore, they should have advanced studies or experience in their field. Their participation is active throughout the unit.

A preceptor is a contextually relevant professional practicing in and recognized by the Spiritual Care Practice Site and the ACPE Certified Educator. Recognition for this role requires one or more of the following:

Professional licensing, professional certification/authority to function in their
role

An advanced degree in their field of expertise

Faith group endorsement/local equivalent process

A current resume must be on file with the program

The kind of activities that the Preceptor will commit to attend include:
Orientation Session
to understand your role
Shadowing
To supervise student
Meetings with student
and educator for feedback
Signing documents
to validate results
